- Well-being Advice, Guidance & Resources
The SAO will cater the needs of students through referrals and information on where they can get help. The Student Advisors of SAO are well-trained and equipped to handle the day-to-day cases, and, when needed, they refer the students to the relevant academic or administrative units of the university, and beyond for necessary support services.
For any queries, students can directly come to the office, send emails or call the SAO members to get the information they might need.
- Academic Support
The SAO is there to help the students who are facing difficulties with academics. Not only that, but our peer mentors also give relevant advice to the students on how to handle the academic pressure as they have gone through the same phase.
If any student faces any issue with understanding a particular topic or she/he feels that it’s difficult to take the pressure of too many courses, it is advisable that the student contact his/her assigned peer mentor through email, text, or call, and also, can come to the office during office hours to get necessary assistance and advice.
Peer mentor will be assigned by the SAO and the office hours will be provided by the mentor.
- Peer Mentor Pairing
Peer mentor pairing is a service that SAO provides to guide students in need of academic support. This service pairs students with other student peers who can help do the assignments, homework, or go through regular class lectures.
SAO offers an extensive program of student advising for all undergraduate students during the first two terms of their first year. The Peer Mentors provide an opportunity to meet fellow students who also offer transitional, social support, and guide new students to various resources and opportunities that are available on campus. The Mentors can also provide a point of contact and support in those areas of student and campus life where students prefer to seek information and suggestions from fellow students.
- Academic Guidance for Students on Probation
Students who are on probation due to poor academic performance can visit the SAO to be guided through the process of what they need to do to get out of probation and avoid expulsion from the university.
Students are expected to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 out of 4.0. If a student on probation fails to raise her/his CGPA to 2.0 in three consecutive terms, s/he will be dismissed from the university. The Student Advising Program provides support to students who need both subject-based and general academic advice.
For this kind of issue, students can directly come to the Student Affairs Office and take guidance from the student advisors. They can also contact their peer mentors through email or call to know better about lifting up their CGPA.
- Scholarship Advice and Guidance
The SAO has all the information students need to understand how the financial aid and scholarship process work and help the students apply for financial assistance.
There is a minimum CGPA for students to acquire the discounts given by the University. These discounts will however be decreased with every decrease in the minimum CGPA requirement.
To know more about these, students can contact their peer mentors or the student advisors, who will then tell them about the scholarships that ULAB offers to its students. They can look for these on ULAB’s website as well.
- Mental Health Advisory Service
The SAO offers a professional and confidential counseling service. The service is set up to provide counseling sessions with any personal issue(s) affecting academic or working abilities.
Mental health issues can appear at any point of time and although the underlying reasons are different from person to person, they affect their abilities to engage with their education and academic performance at the university.
The Student Affairs office arranges multiple mental health awareness sessions for the students so that they do not get shy to share their issues.
For any problem, students can contact the Students Affairs Office who will give them the support that they require at that moment. Students can also contact their peer mentors as they will be able to understand from a student point of view.

SAO offers tutorial support to all ULAB students, especially the freshmen and at-risk students, those who are in academic probation and those who are retaking specific courses. However, departments have built-in programs where students at-risk are identified by their course instructors, and allot specific times accordingly for required consultations.
- Emotional Distress
If any student is upset about something and s/he needs to talk, or confused about various events taking place in her/his life that affect studies, s/he can get in touch with the Counselor or the SAO.
- Physically Unwell

The ULAB Health & Wellness Center of Student Affairs Office (SAO) is located in Room PC-110 of ULAB Permanent Campus.

- Representation in Disciplinary Cases
The students faced with disciplinary hearings will be appointed a representative during the hearings. The SAO representative will help the student through the disciplinary hearing process and provide any extra support the student might need.
- Events
Events and workshops will be conducted and hosted by the SAO for students throughout their student life at ULAB. Stress Management, Time Management, Drug Abuse, Everyday Law, and Rights related are some of the topics that the SAO focuses on.
- Guardian Relations
Every term, SAO arranges a Parents’ Meeting for the freshers’ parents of ULAB. During the program, parents are informed about the student services and campus resources that support student development at ULAB. Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Heads of the Departments, and representatives of various offices also respond to the parents’ queries. SAO also organizes pre-mid and pre-final meetings with the parents of the freshers to create awareness so that students can develop positive study habits and maintain good academic results. Also, parents of the students who are on probation get opportunities to meet the SAO members.
